Chillaton lies just to the west of Dartmoor and though in a valley, it will often get the moist, warmer air from the Atlantic in any southwesterly airstream. Which means that whilst it can be warmer down here, it can be a little wetter. Good news for gardeners.

It is protected by Dartmoor from cold easterlies though, which can mean that when Exeter and East Devon are seeing snow, we don't get any.
